The SCV Water Scholarship Program

To encourage and inspire the next wave of water professionals, SCV Water sponsors two scholarships each year to students in pursuit of education and training in water or a related field.

Edward G. "Jerry" Gladbach Scholarship  |  Assoc. of CA Water Agencies

The Edward G. “Jerry” Gladbach Scholarship in partnership with the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), in the amount of $2,500.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Jerry Gladbach, who served on the board of SCV Water (and Castaic Lake Water Agency before then) from 1985 – 2022, He was a past ACWA president, SCV Water vice president, and longtime local, state, and national water leader.  Director Gladbach was a key supporter of the Agency's mission to provide reliable, high-quality water for the SCV,” said General Manager Matt Stone. “Jerry had a deep and durable involvement in many organizations, including ACWA, whom we partnered with.

At the start of the school year covered by the scholarships, applicants must be attending an accredited University of California or California State University and pursuing an undergraduate degree in a water resources-related field including engineering, agricultural and/or urban water supply, environmental studies, or public administration.

 

Application Timeframe, Award and Funds

The online application typically opens in December and ends on March 1 for the following school year. Scholarship recipients are announced at the ACWA spring conference in May. However, recipients are not required to attend.

SCV Water Operations Scholarship  |  College of the Canyons

The SCV Water Operations Scholarship for the Water Technology Program at College of the Canyons, with two awards at $250 each.

The SCV Water Operations Scholarship benefits students in the Water Technology Program at the College of the Canyons. Eligibility and application requirements are described below. The process is administered by SCV Water, which includes the online application, selection, and award.

 

Eligibility and Requirements

 

  • California resident at the time of application.
  • Must be attending College of the Canyons at the start of the academic year covered by the scholarship.
  • Must have successfully completed one Water Technology course.
  • Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member and one from a previous or current employer (within the last five years).
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • A written description of their career goals and why they are interested in Water Technology courses (300 words maximum).

The SCV Water Operations Scholarship online application period typically opens on February 1 and closes on March 1, for the upcoming fall semester.

But if scholarship recipients are not immediately selected, the application period will remain open until recipients are selected.

 

Scholarship Funds

A check for the full scholarship amount will be presented to the chosen student(s) at an SCV Water Board meeting. Use of the funds would be restricted to tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for the school.
