Introducing the SCV Water Gardening Club - New for 2026!

The SCV Water Gardening Club is a brand-new, year-long workshop series designed to help residents create beautiful, sustainable, and water-wise landscapes tailored to life in the Santa Clarita Valley. This new program brings together expert instruction, hands-on learning, and a welcoming community atmosphere that makes gardening approachable for all experience levels.

Through a mix of in-person and virtual workshops held throughout the year, participants will explore topics such as container gardening, native and edible plants, landscape design, composting, lawn replacement, and wildfire-resilient landscaping. Family-friendly classes and bilingual offerings are also included, making the Gardening Club accessible and engaging for the entire community.

Whether you’re planting your first container garden or refining an established landscape, the SCV Water Gardening Club offers practical tools, local expertise, and seasonal inspiration to help your garden thrive, while connecting you with neighbors who share a passion for growing smarter and gardening together.

What to Expect in Our Landscape and Gardening Workshops

Join us at SCV Water for a series of in-person and webinar workshops scheduled throughout 2026, with varying locations and topics. Immerse yourself in a hands-on and enlightening experience designed to enrich your knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices and gardening essentials. Our seasoned instructors will lead you through diverse topics, offering valuable insights. Prepare to delve into sustainable landscaping, armed with newfound knowledge and a rekindled passion to transform your outdoor spaces!

Please note: Due to limited space, Gardening Club workshops are exclusively open to SCV Water customers. In-person workshop registration opens quarterly to help ensure available spots are used by participants who plan to attend and to give more customers the opportunity to participate.

If a workshop fills up, a waitlist will be available. Customers are encouraged to join the waitlist, as spots may open if registered participants cancel. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration as early as possible so another community member may participate.

Our Instructors

John Windsor

John Windsor is a Certified Arborist and a California Certified Nurseryman. He has been a Horticultural Advisor in the Santa Clarita Valley for the last 23 years. He has a teaching credential in Horticulture and teaches gardening and landscape classes at the local Adult School and the Santa Clarita Department of Parks and Recreation.

 

Ann Gutierrez

Ann Gutierrez is a licensed architect, landscape designer, and certified native plant landscaper who brings a unique blend of creativity and ecological expertise to every project. Born and raised in the vibrant Mexico City and now based in Los Angeles, Ann's designs reflect a deep appreciation for cultural heritage and the natural world. When she's not crafting sustainable spaces, you'll find her exploring the art of printmaking or emracing her love of plants on leisurely hikes - pausing frequently to marvel at every leaf, flower, and seed pod along the way. A passionate advocate for native flora, Ann combines her artistic eye with a dedication to creating landscapes that are as functional as they are beautiful. Whether designing a space, creating art, or just stopping to smell the sagebrush, Ann thrives at the intersection of design, nature and creativity. 

Julie Molinare

Julie Molinare is a premier landscape artist in Santa Clarita Valley, transforming outdoor spaces into personalized paradises. After leaving Corporate America, she discovered her true calling in landscape design, graduating with honors from CSUN’s Landscape Design Extension Program in 2003. Since then, Julie has helped countless clients create beautiful, functional, and sustainable outdoor spaces tailored to their needs and the local environment.

In 2007, Julie began teaching Introduction to Landscape Design at CSUN, sharing her expertise and inspiring new designers. As President of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) Greater Los Angeles and a California state board member, she actively contributes to sustainable water and fire regulation efforts.

Julie specializes in creating well-planned landscapes that enhance curb appeal, value, and environmental quality while prioritizing client needs, microclimates, and eco-friendly practices. She is a recognized expert in Southern California plants, particularly those suited for the Santa Clarita Valley.
