Completed: Water Service Line Inventory
As part of compliance requirements with the California and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Revised Lead and Copper Rule (RLCR), SCV Water conducted an inventory of water service lines between February and October 2024, focusing on homes built before 1987 and also included other SCV Water customer groups. Water Service Line Inventory
Help us protect your drinking water! SCV Water needs your help to complete our Service Line Inventory.
A water service line is the pipe that comes from your street and supplies water to your home or business. To complete our inventory, SCV Water will document the material of your water service line and fittings from the water meter to just outside of your house or building.
Our inventory will focus mainly on homes built before 1987 but may also include other SCV Water customer groups. The results may help to improve the quality of water that you rely on every day.

Service Line Inventory Map
This interactive map shows the current status of your service line material in SCV Water's inventory.
Use the interactive map to look up the status of the service line on your property and determine if it is non-lead, lead or galvanized.
In order to comply with federal requirements, SCV Water needs customers to submit their inventory results to be included in our database and accessible via the interactive map.
To view the map and see what materials are used in water laterals in your area, click on the button below.
SCV Water has contracted with 120Water to collect the information and create a database as well as a searchable and interactive map.

Lead and Copper Rule for Drinking Water
The RLCR protects the public’s drinking water from metals that can adversely affect public health by requiring water systems to monitor lead and copper levels at the consumers’ taps.
Regulating Agencies
The State Water Resources Control Board, through the Division of Drinking Water (DDW), enforces the California Lead and Copper Rule (CA LCR), which is aligned with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (US EPA’s) Lead and Copper Rule (LCR).
Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR)
On January 15, 2021, the U.S. EPA issued revisions to the federal LCR. The U.S. EPA’s new Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) strengthen every aspect of the LCR to better protect communities from the impacts of lead exposure. The new LCRR will get the lead out of our nation’s drinking water and empower communities through information.
The LCRR requires community water systems throughout the United States (approx. 4,000 water systems in CA), including SCV Water, to conduct an inventory of service lines and determine the material of those lines and fittings, which is required to be completed by October 16, 2024.
